At the end of July this year, German tourists felt in love with a small cat in their resort. They brought him from Kiwengwa to our place to start the whole procedure for becoming ready to travel. Vaccination, rabies blood test, chipping and sterilization.
Unfortunately, now its future adopters stepped back from their decision to wait until the kitten is ready to enter the EU (which was early December in this case). We remain now with Garfield, a pretty and very gentle red boy of around 10 months that deserves to find his caring humans. Here in Zanzibar, but also anywhere in the world, he has all the necessary documents to travel. We would be very happy to find a forever home for this poor small fellow. Who wants to give this to him? ...

More and more people ask us to facilitate the procedure for the exportation of animals for them. We’ve said it already: It’s a long and costly procedure, and if going to EU countries this is even extended by a 3-month period after that a negative blood test for rabies. As Tanzania is classified as a high-risk country for rabies, this doesn’t help at all.
Every expat person who adopts a cat or a dog here in Zanzibar should know that it’s not just a case of getting a rabies vaccination. There’s also the micro-chipping, blood test and wait for results. Please think ahead of time - and not shortly before your departure - of doing these - otherwise you risk waiting a very long for your beloved pet and incurring even more costs.
Here are photos from our recent success story with Zanzi who travelled to Chicago, already with offspring in her belly. All were very welcomed at the home of their lovely adopter Sonja and live a happy life there. ...

Often the first question about neutering or treatment of cats is “How much does it cost?”
We need income to be able to treat street cats for free, so an important pillar of this income is the profit generated from the treatment of pets or street cats.
But if ever this is not possible for you, please know: we will not let die your cat if you can’t pay. Also, we will nevertheless sterilize your animal, so don’t worry. Each unwanted and dumped kitten costs us much more in care.
